December 31, 2009
One of our main concerns prior to moving was whether the proper cardiac care would be available for Jaedin. As we learned, Royal Children’s Hospital, a top-notch pediatric cardiology center, is right here in Melbourne. Jaedin has been enjoying school here, especially the computer lessons. He is becoming a master at Movie Maker and 3D rendering. For his latest interest, he found some friends at school who do hip hop dancing at recess. He has choreographed a number of different routines to Michael Jackson songs; he even performed one of his dance numbers in front of the whole school at an assembly! [photos] And Jaedin has become a celebrity once again, this time being featured in a TV commercial for the Victorian schools. He still loves drawing and writing and wants to be an author. His favorite thing about Australia: grilling up prawns on the barbie!
December 31, 2008
Jaedin is our prize-winning young author and artist. He keeps busy writing and illustrating all sorts of books. He became a bit of a local celebrity through Make-a-Wish, appearing in TV and radio spots. He loves doing the things he’s good at, and even though he’s only ten years old, he has already developed a teenager’s attitude when it comes to things he doesn’t want to do (eye rolling, grumpy mumbling, etc.). He enjoyed an overnight trip to the zoo with his third-grade class last spring (where Dad won the snoring contest for keeping everyone awake all night). He also got stitches for landing his head on a brick while helping me build a retaining wall in our yard. He celebrated his tenth birthday at an indoor water park. Jaedin was baptized in November and got to share the experience with Cam. It was fun to see them meet with the missionaries for the lessons, especially when they tried teaching the lessons back to the missionaries.
December 23, 2007: Making a Wish...
From this year's newsletter:
Jaedin is growing up too fast – he’s already asking us which pedal is the brake and which is the gas and why we never get the needle on the dial all the way up to 120. His big milestone was that he started mowing the lawn this year. Came out a bit crooked the first few times, but now he's got it mastered. He loves books – writing books in particular; he’s the budding author of the “Super Captain Bunny Adventure Series.” Jaedin won an essay contest and was published in the local newspaper; as a special prize he got to ride right up to the school’s front door in a Model T Ford with all the other students outside watching. He went to Cub Scout day camp this summer and can build anything out of Legos with ease. He gave a couple of speeches about Abraham Lincoln and Thomas Edison in school, complete with costumes and props. His imagination and all his interests amaze us, though the reams of paper he goes through are depleting the forests and draining our bank account. He noticed that he is getting winded a lot lately, but still doing well as far as his cardiologist is concerned. In some exciting news along those lines, he got a call from the Make-a-Wish foundation to set up an interview (see story). As another bonus from Make-a-Wish, we got private front-row seats right at the center of a Blue Angels show (see photos), and the kids got to meet each of the pilots after the show. Quite an experience!
December 21, 2006: Krafty Kid
From this year's newsletter:
In second grade, Jaedin just turned eight years old. He loves reading about his favorite subject, and he’ll manage to find every book in the library about whatever he’s into that particular week, which this year has included dinosaurs, robots, volcanoes, farm animals, the Titanic, sharks, lightsabers, and giant squids. He loves drawing, making models and doing crafts, and he comes up with a new project pretty much every day. Turn him loose with paper, crayons, scissors, and glue…wait a few hours, and next thing you know he’s made a brand new game, popup book, movie set, or some other creative project. He also loves writing stories, making his own comic book series, and writing screenplays for videos he wants to direct. Jaedin has decided he wants to be an author/baker when he grows up, simultaneously writing comic strips and cooking scrumptious meals for his readers. His health has been amazingly good, and once again, we’re very blessed in having nothing new to report on his heart condition - wow!
December 23, 2005: Spider Man
From this year's newsletter:
Jaedin lost his first tooth this year, which was exciting for him, except that he lost it at night in the dirt on a camping trip; a lengthy search effort never yielded the lost tooth, which made for a distraught boy who was very worried that he wouldn’t have anything to leave for the tooth fairy. We knew that a friend of Jaedin’s had just lost a tooth as well, so after we put the kids to bed, I told Lindy we should just get that tooth from the other parents and tell Jaedin we found it. "Daddy, I heard you!" came a small voice…turned out Jaedin wasn’t asleep. The next morning he told me I was in huge trouble with the tooth fairy; looks like I’ll need to do some time in tooth jail for perjury and insider trading.
Jaedin is loving first grade. His latest interest is spiders. He brought spider books, spider videos, even his own live spider collection from our back yard to Show & Tell until his teacher finally had to beg us, "no more spiders, please!" For Christmas he wanted a pet tarantula, but Lindy had to draw the line there (we couldn’t guarantee that it would stay in the cage…) Other interests this year have included volcanoes, sharks, jellyfish, beetles, scorpions, and stingrays. Jaedin is a master builder (Legos, K’nex, Bionicles, etc.) and loves to make lists about everything, from how many days are left before an upcoming event to who’s invited to his party (dis-invited sister noted at the end). He’s also very into the holidays, especially Halloween. Sometime in early October he got the idea in his head that he was going to host a Halloween party. So he spent the whole month planning every detail, complete with games, treats, music, and the works. His "Boo Bash" was a hit. He’s had a great year on all fronts, including his health. We’re down to annual visits to the cardiologist with no major upcoming operations, so we’ve really been blessed to have him doing so well.
December 27, 2004: Kindergarten Kid
From this year's newsletter:
Jaedin started Kindergarten this year. Dad thought he was being pretty sneaky following him from a distance the first day, but apparently he spotted him anyway; his first comment to Mom when he got home was, “Dad followed me today, tell him not to do that anymore.” Now he keeps Mom and Dad on their toes with all of the handouts, notes, etc. He’s discovered that there are signs to be read everywhere, and he spells out everything he sees from the car. He loves cooking with Mom and building Legos with Dad, though he can put everything together from the directions without any help now. We were lucky enough to have had the entire year with no major issues related to his heart conditions. Jaedin’s latest interest is dinosaurs. A quote: “Can we watch the dinosaur movie tonight? It’s on at 8/7 central.” Another quote of his is further evidence that he’s soaking everything in.: “Today I want toast for part of my nutritious breakfast.”
December 15, 2003: Star Wars Fanatic
From this year's newsletter: Jaedin asked for nothing but Star Wars toys and books for his fifth birthday. He asks so many questions about robot names and who's a bad guy that I finally had to buy a Star Wars encyclopedia to keep up. He had an angioplasty in May and his cardiologists are pleased with his overall condition (despite a lung infection that landed him in the ICU for a week last winter). He's Mr. Independent, and he makes the thickest peanut butter sandwiches on the planet.
January 1, 2003: Big Boy Bike
Jaedin can't stop talking about the "big boy bike" Santa brought him for Christmas. From this year's newsletter: We were a bit anxious this fall as Jaedin finished his antibiotic treatment for the infection he developed during his Summer 2001 surgery. We'll be preparing for an angioplasty in a few months, where they'll measure some of the pressures in his heart and lungs using a catheter in order to make some long-term treatment decisions. So far, we've been relieved that he has shown no signs of a recurring infection. His medications have dropped from six down to two, which makes life a lot easier. Jaedin just adores his new little sister. He's found lots of new interests this year, and he wants very badly to be bigger. He's been asking about a big-boy bike for months now, and it looks like he'll finally have his chance to learn how to ride one after Christmas. Jaedin and I finished up a swimming class this summer, and he learned all sorts of new tricks in the water. He loves to make music with anything he can find, and he's turned into quite the little comedian. The other night when Jaedin was sick with a cold, he came into our room in the middle of the night, whimpering, "Daddy, I'm sick, I need some cookies."
September 4, 2002: A new baby sister
Jaedin was very excited about his new little sister. For a few weeks before she was born, he kept telling us, "the baby's coming in two minutes!" He loves everything about her.
September 26, 2002: No more IV
Jaedin had a great checkup with his cardiologist today, and after a year of oral antibiotics, he's finally done! We are watching carefully now to make sure there are no signs of a recurring infection.
December 23, 2001: No more IV
Jaedin is off of his IV antibiotics and back to his silly self again. We're hoping the infection is gone, but he'll need to stay on oral antibiotics for some time to make sure. From this year's newsletter: Jaedin recently had his third birthday party. We can’t believe he’s already three – which means he’s old enough to join the Sunbeam Primary class (Sunday School) in a few weeks. Jaedin has a great attitude about life. He’s as energetic as any other three-year old, and he always thinks of Cam when there’s something edible to share. When it comes to toy trains, though, it’s another story. He loves to help around the house wherever he can. His Fisher-Price toolkit gets a lot of use while we’re remodeling. One of his favorite things to do lately is to look through Christmas toy catalogs. The other day he came up to us with a catalog open to the train sets, waved his hand across the entire page, and said, “I wanbuy alldat!”
October 15, 2001: A Little Setback
Jaedin had an unexpected operation a few weeks ago to clear up an infection. It was tough seeing him back in the hospital, but he has done a great job adapting to his new routine, which includes lots of antibiotics through a permanent IV line. Things are looking good so far for a full recovery without further surgery. For more details, read the post we sent to the HLHS listserv, an e-mail group for HLHS parents. (post to German listserv)
September 7, 2001: Checkup
Jaedin got a great report from his cardiologist today. He has recovered from the surgery very well, except for the part where he and Cam forgot how to share after being spoiled separately for a week or two. He spent 10 days in Intensive Care where they wanted to keep an eye on his rhythm for a while, but once he got moved to the floor, we were out of there within a day. Jaedin got to ride the San Francisco trolley on the way home, and though it took him a while to adjust to some scenery other than the four walls of a hospital room, he was getting back to himself within a few days. See photos from the hospital.
August 16, 2001: Wrapping up in ICU
Jaedin was extubated on Monday and very upset that he couldn't yell at us immediately. All of the tubes and other lines made him very uncomfortable - luckily he's gradually getting weaned off of all the gadgets, so that now he only has his pacemaker and a few other lines left. We were starting to get worried that his underlying rhythm wouldn't kick in on its own (sometimes it doesn't happen and kids have to go home on pacemakers), but then yesterday (after he couldn't keep the ice cream we gave him down) his natural heart rate shot back up to where it was before the surgery, and he has stayed ahead of the pacemaker over since. Way to go Jaedin! He still spends a lot of time pouting, but he's been very brave with all of the needle pokes and other discomforts he has to put up with. He can't wait to be able to lie on his stomach again soon. And then wrestling with Cam will be the next step.
August 10, 2001: R-E-L-I-E-F
Jaedin had his surgery
yesterday, and we were very grateful to hear that they were able to successfully
complete all of the repairs for his heart during the same bypass (atrial valve
repair and Fontan procedure). We were unsure going
into this whether it would need to be split into multiple surgeries, so we were
very relieved when the surgeon came in and told us he had been able to do
everything - that means Jaedin should be all through with major heart surgeries.
Doing it all at once does make the recovery a bit more intense, though, and we
did have a couple of big scares overnight while he was adjusting to a temporary
pacemaker. Things have stabilized now, and we have made it through the
first 24 hours after surgery, which is usually the biggest hurdle. Thanks
for all the thoughts and prayers - watch for updates
next week on how the recovery is going.
August 8, 2001: Jaedin's Big Day Tomorrow!
We made it down to San Francisco this weekend and went in for a cardiac catheterization at UCSF on Monday. It took a little longer than expected, so we had to stay over at the hospital until Tuesday. Now we get to relax (out of the hospital) today and gear up for the big surgery tomorrow. The catheterization didn't reveal anything that would change the approach for the surgery, so we're it looks like we're full speed ahead for tomorrow. The trip down here went much more quickly than expected thanks to a borrowed TV/VCR unit and lots of Veggie Tales tapes (otherwise we're afraid we would only have made it an hour at a time - getting us here sometime early next month).
June 21, 2001: Be sure to wear flowers in your hair...
The big event on the calendar now is a heart operation for Jaedin on August 9 in San Francisco. They will be fixing an old tear in his aortic valve, and if everything is looking good, we hope to have them complete the Fontan operation as well (the Fontan is the last in the series of operations for Jaedin's heart condition.) We'll head down there a few days ahead of time for a catheterization, so that will give us a chance to get used to things there before the actual surgery. Jaedin always seems very anxious to get out of the hospital once he's through with a surgery, so we're hoping our stay will be as short as possible.
As far as the everyday action, the boys are growing up fast - Jaedin is 2 ½ and has been our little parrot lately. He repeats the things we say, even when we're not talking to him, so we have to be careful. He loves telling on Cam when he's getting into things. Jaedin and Cam have really become best buds, even though they bug each other more and more each day, too.
June 15, 2001: Summer Fun!
Jaedin loves being able to stay outside playing later and later each day. Too bad the days start getting shorter again next week... A big highlight of his summer so far was riding the miniature train at the train museum in Squamish, BC over Memorial Day weekend. He is gearing up for a valve repair surgery later this summer - more details on the surgery and the decisions yet to be made coming soon...
March 30, 2001: VivalaValve!
Jaedin is full of energy, but the latest echo of his heart showed that his aortic valve leakage has increased. It doesn't affect him yet, but the doctors may want to fix it before it gets any worse. Now we need to make some decisions about when to do it in relation to the other surgery he needs.
December 22, 2000: Two years old!
from our 2000 Christmas newsletter: Jaedin got to have 3 birthday parties for his second birthday: one with Mom and Dad in Seattle, and one with each set of grandparents in Eugene and Portland. This will be the first Christmas season in a long time that hasn't involved hospital stays, and it's a nice change. Jaedin has become our little train conductor. He began an obsession with trains a few months ago that hasn't let up in the least - it shows us how riveted he can get to something he wants. Everything trains, we've got it: train sets, train videos, train shirts, train posters, train hats, etc. He was in heaven when we went to a model train show a few weeks ago, and he even got to ride a real train down to Eugene last week. He can spot a railroad crossing from miles away and he hears the faint train whistles through any traffic noise. In other Jaedin news, he was forced to quit his bottle cold turkey a few months back - he went through serious withdrawal, but now he only occasionally mutters his discontent when he sees Cam getting a bottle. He has found the redial button on the phone and has managed to call me at work sometimes. He loves to pretend he's driving the van, and now that I made the mistake of letting him steer in a parking lot, he thinks he's ready to work the pedals and all. Jaedin loves the playground near our house and he will climb up anything fearlessly.
Jaedin's cardiology visit went well. It looks like he is on schedule to have the Fontan operation this summer. That surgery may or may not be combined with another procedure to repair a leaking valve. The leaking valve is a result of the angioplasty he had at two days old, in an unsuccessful effort to avoid having to go through with the Norwood operations. We'll find out more details after our next visit in April. Jaedin has as much energy as any other kid his age, and we've been very grateful that his body has adjusted so well to the condition.
July 20, 2000: Road Trip
Jaedin survived the big road trip to Michigan, and someday he'll be proud that he made a less convincing little girl than Cam. (see photo)
May 1, 2000: .....and don't come back! (at least not for 6 months)
Everything looked great at Jaedin's last cardiology visit. We were very happy to hear that the cardiologist doesn't need to see him back for 6 months! Until now, we've never gone more than a few weeks without a visit to Childrens. The date for Stage 3 will depend on his weight gain, but it could be as early as summer 2001.
April 10, 2000: no pain, no gain
Jaedin is officially walking everywhere, though the learning process got him a few bumps on the head. A special treat last month was going to see the Tigger Movie with Dad! His new favorite place is Kidopolis (see photos.)
February 10, 2000: who's the new guy?
Jaedin had a great recovery from his surgery in December. Details about Jaedin's Glenn operation are in our post to the CHD listserv. Now he's getting used to life as a new big brother!
- more on his brother in our Christmas (Valentine's) Letter
December 24, 1999 - Home for Christmas....
We were able to take Jaedin home in time for Christmas! The recovery is still going fairly well, though he's still getting used to some of the physiological changes - his sleep schedule is also totally off from the hospital, so that has left him pretty cranky. But what a great Christmas present to be able to have him home with us so soon!
December 19, 1999 - still cruising through recovery....
Jaedin is still doing great with his recovery! The biggest problem now is that he is so active that he keeps tangling himself up in his wires and tubes and even tries to pull out his own IV's. He managed to pull off his saturation meter and EKG leads about ten times last night. The nurses would hear all of the alarms going off and come running in to find Jaedin standing there smiling at them after having pulled himself up on his crib rail (see photo.) He seems back to himself already, as long as you don't wear a white lab coat around him. Overall, we couldn't be happier with how things have gone with this surgery - what a blessing!
December 18, 1999 - Recovery....
Jaedin's surgery went amazingly well! The surgeons couldn't be more pleased with the results. He's ready to be discharged from the ICU after just one day of recovery. In fact, he sat up in bed this morning and started looking around. He'll stay in the hospital for another couple of days, but it looks like we'll be able to have him home for Christmas! What a fighter! It will take some time for his body to adjust to the changes from the surgery, but if all goes well, we'll have a year or two to "relax" before the next phase. Thanks to all for your concern and support!
December 13, 1999 - Surgery Schedule...
Jaedin's Glenn surgery is re-rescheduled for December 17 - one of these times he'll be healthy enough to get the green light, but it's not easy with all of the viruses that have been floating around. He's doing great right now with only a few days to go, so it looks like this might just be it. We'll find out Thursday night and post the updates here.
November 17, 1999 - Surgery Postponement...
Well, after a full day of pre-op pokes and prods and lots of testing, the heart surgeon decided to postpone Jaedin's surgery to be sure all traces of the cold he had are gone. Now we know a bit what the shuttle crews feel when they call off a launch, though we weren't exactly looking forward to this trip. It has been tentatively rescheduled for December 1st or possibly the 16th. Though it was frustrating and emotionally draining for us, we are grateful for a surgeon that didn't allow any of the logistics (grandparents flying out, etc.) to interfere with his decision, and we trust his advice. We are grateful for the extra time it gives us before the surgery, and we know the postponement is for a reason. Thanks so much for everyone's concern!
November 14, 1999 - The big day approaches...
Just a few more days until the surgery (the bi-directional Glen operation.) Jaedin came down with a slight cold last week, but he seems to be getting over it now. They will have to postpone the operation if there's any trace of a cold, so Jaedin has spent most of his time at home during the past week or two. It will be a busy week with the surgery preparations - all of Jaedin's grandparents will be out here cheering him on. The past few months have been exciting - Jaedin got to go to Disneyland! He had a fun halloween (Jaedin was a bug - a Jaedybug - and dad was an exterminator, with tanks and all.) His favorite things lately have been helping to unload the dishwasher and flushing the toilet. He also gets a kick out of ejecting VCR tapes and turning the TV on and off, on and off, on and off...
September 16, 1999 - Gearing up for round two...
Jaedin did great during his catheterization today - the doctors checked his pulmonary pressures and everything else, and they say he is looking good for the next step. He's getting ready for the bi-directional Glen operation (scheduled for November 18.) Part of that operation involves removing his artificial shunt. Jaedin has been doing great since his last operation in May. He's had quite a summer with trips to Utah, Michigan, and California. He loves the new backyard with his pool and swingset. He's crawling around like a little madman, and he can pull himself up on anything now. His big news is that he will have a little sister (or brother) next year!
June 11, 1999 - Ready to move...
Jaedin recovered from his last surgery very well, so well in fact, that the doctor gave him permission to fly to Utah less than two weeks after his operation. We all had a good time relaxing on the trip - Jaedin even got to play in a pool for the first time (see photos.) Jaedin now sits up on his own, wants a taste of everything we eat, spits babyfood right back to us, holds his bottle, rolls over, and best of all has a very contagious laugh. He's still the biggest flirt when the women stop to tell him how cute he is. The latest news is that Jaedin will have a back yard to play in when we move into a new house next month. We can't believe he's already six months old - the time flies by so quickly.
May 15, 1999 - An unexpected surgery.
Jaedin hadn't been able to kick the cough that began over two months ago, and finally an ultrasound of his heart last week showed that the hole between his ventricles was closing. The way his heart now functions (see HLHS Links) he needs the hole for his blood to mix. The doctors think this is the cause of his congestion. Yesterday's attempt at using a catheter to perform the procedure was unsuccessful. It's a very serious problem for him, and he went in for an added bypass surgery right away. The congestion complicates the surgery somewhat, but we are happy to report that he got off the bypass successfully. The recovery will take some time, but hopefully this will help get him healthy before his next major surgery toward the end of the summer.
April 20, 1999
We've skipped a few months, but we'll try to get monthly updates on Jaedin posted here in the future. Jaedin's the happiest kid around - He loves bath time, jumping in his bouncer, flirting with nurses (or any female - seems to have his Uncle Kevin's genes), and just laughing out loud for no reason. He's scheduled for an angioplasty (balloon catheterization) in early May to prep him for his next big bypass surgery sometime in June. Despite his special RSV vaccinations, he caught a pretty bad flu that landed him in the hospital for a few days in March. As far as the standard baby progress report, he's getting bigger (12 lbs, 23 in), sleeping through the night, rolling over (with a little extra nudge), and starting to drool in anticipation of those dreaded teeth. He talks nonstop - he's got the Pledge of Allegiance down and is now working on the Gettysburg Address. He got his first buzz cut just in time for summer (Dad is still facing Grandma's wrath for that one.) His smile seems to be contagious to everyone he sees - we love our boy and the new life we have with him.
January 31, 1999
Jaedin's been home over a month now, and he's doing great! He's gained lots of weight ever since he pulled his feeding tube out a few days after being released from the hospital. He likes being sung to (favorite song is you are my sunshine - with his name inserted in random places,) going for walks in his new jogger stroller, late nights, and sleeping in. He's a pretty happy kid all around. We still have to be careful with him, especially with cold viruses, but we're hoping to get him on rsv shots soon (keeping our fingers crossed for the insurance and doctor's approval.) These next few months are our chance to relax and enjoy our time with him as he gets ready for his next surgery in June or July. He's such a blessing in our lives!
December 28, 1998 (from our Christmas letter)
. . . Our miracle baby. We had anticipated several weeks or even months of recovery time, but we got to bring him home on Christmas Eve, just ten days after his surgery. We couldnt imagine a better Christmas gift. We feel so incredibly lucky to have himsomething like this makes you really appreciate every little detail of his life. . . .
December 16, 1998
Hello everybody! A quick note to pass on the good news! For those of you whom we are
reaching for the first time, a quick backtrack: our son Jaedin (born 12/8/98) went in for
bypass surgery last Monday in a risky effort to save his life. We are happy to report that
the surgery went well, and that he has now begun the process of recovery. It is a slow
process that could take months, and he still needs your prayers. This surgery was the
first step in the treatment of his condition (HLHS.) He still has two major heart
surgeries remaining, but for now we are relieved to have the most critical time behind us.
We appreciate all of the e-mails, phone messages, and other forms of support and
encouragement that have come our way since this ordeal began. We join with you in thanking
God for Jaedin's second chance at life and pray for his continued recovery. Way to go
Jaedin!
all of our love and thanks,
krey, lindy, and JAEDIN!
December 11, 1998
Hello again....It has been a very rough week here, but we thought we would update you
on Jaedin's condition. Everything went well with the delivery, and we were very excited to
finally meet our beautiful baby boy. Many of you know, however, that there were some
significant complications immediately after delivery. We have found out some further
details in the days following: He has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart
Syndrome, a complex congenital heart defect. He will undergo a major surgery with
significant risk on Monday, December 14. It will be an extensive, all-day operation--so
please join us in fasting and praying for a successful operation and recovery. If you are
interested in finding out more about his condition, along with some information about
treatment, effects, etc., try looking up http://www.execpc.com/~markc/index.html.
This is a page dedicated to a boy with the same problem as Jaedin. It's very humbling, as
it gives us a preview of the next several years of our life--and that's a best-case
scenario. We hope you understand that we won't be able to respond personally to your
messages for a while, but we do appreciate any words of encouragement and support that you
send our way. I'm sure we have missed some people in sending a mass e-mail, so please
forward this message to those that you feel we may have missed. We are very concerned, yet
very hopeful, since Jaedin is looking like a fighter so far--he has pulled himself through
some critical days, and we think he's up for this next fight. We feel very lucky to be in
an excellent hospital--at this point we've put our son's life in God's hands and
into the hands of some of the
best doctor's around. We trust them, and know that with God's help, everything will
be ok. Until the next update, with love,
krey & lindy
December 8, 1998
Hello everybody--
This will have to be quick--the official announcement will follow soon. We'll post it on
Jaedin's page as well. For now, though, we wanted to at least let you know the details, so
here are the official stats:
Jaedin Elek Mekenah Price, born December 8, 1998 at 2:50 pm in Seattle, 7 lbs, 13 oz., 21 inches long. Long black hair. Missed the ferry (3 am hospital admittance--more to come on that one.) Mother is healthy, happy and well (small head, short labor.)
We think he's uniquely cute (how's that for a euphemism). The attached hospital Polaroid photos are all we've got right now (please excuse the tubes--hopefully we'll have a more presentable version soon.) He's got a lot of spunk, but unfortunately he stopped breathing at 3 hours old (a very scary situation.) Right now he's in intensive care and in the process of being transferred to a specialized facility. Please don't assume the worst if you don't hear from us soon--I'm sure it will be a hectic couple of days. Unfortunately we're very short on details right now, but we will let you know as soon as we find out more.
We appreciate your thoughts and prayers,
love, krey and lindy
